The Japan Sommelier Association (JSA) was founded in 1969 with the aim of promoting a better understanding of wine and other beverages such as sake, and their dissemination in Japan. While the term “sommelier” is often associated with wine, in recent years, JSA has turned its focus to sake and developed the Sake Diploma certification.

The Sake Diploma is now one of the most well-known and prestigious qualifications in Japan.

L’École des Maîtres du Saké Paris is the exclusive provider of the JSA Sake Diploma examination in France, held once a year. Please note that the exam includes both a theoretical part and a blind tasting of sake and Honkaku shochu & Awamori.

Description

The exam questions for the 2025 J.S.A. Sake Diploma will be based on the English version of the 4th edition of the official textbook, published on May 31, 2025. Prepare yourself to earn one of the most prestigious titles in the world of sake: the Japan Sommelier Association (J.S.A.) Sake Diploma.

Known for its high level of difficulty, this exam will be held for the first time in France. At L’École des Maîtres du Saké Paris, the course is led by Mr. Tony Yip, holder of the J.S.A. Sake Diploma.

The J.S.A. SAKE DIPLOMA Textbook provides rich and detailed information on how raw materials, production processes, history, regionality, and other factors influence the making and final result of sake and shochu. It also covers the art of tasting and evaluating sake.
